Televised Sport

The Union's very own sports bar, the Playing Fields, offers comfortable surroundings in which to take in all major televised sporting events. With six plasma screens to complement a large projector screen, there's nowhere in the place that you can't see the action!

If you want to arrange for your GUSA sports team to come to the Playing Fields to take in a match or two, you can contact me by emailing games@guu.co.uk, and I'll be happy to make arrangements for you. We're now finalising the televised sport programme for first term, with the full listings to be provided on the website and around the Union within the week!

Quiz

Beer Bar Quiz: Monday 8pm (Beer Bar)

The Beer Bar Quiz is a great way to start the week off, with a vast and exciting array of diverse questions. Starting with current affairs, the genre twists and turns through seven different rounds, including the legendary speed round, finishing with the specialist round. Although this sounds like the complete package, we haven't even got to the prizes yet.

Darts

Darts Competition: Friday 5.30pm (Beer Bar)

Darts is the king of traditional pub games and is a great way to relax after a hard week watching Jeremy Kyle followed by Neighbours.

Whether you’re a novice or shooting consistent 180’s, there is a massive £50 of bar vouchers to won every week. Make your way down to the alcove at the back of the Beer Bar for a chat, a pint, and an enjoyable game of darts.

This year (09/10), in order to ensure fairness across the board for the Annual Championship, players will be ranked according to their performance in the weekly competition and the seedings for the Championship will be derived from the rankings.

Snooker/Pool

Snooker Competition: Wednesdays 5.30pm (Billiards Hall)

Here at the Glasgow University Union, we boast the largest student billiards hall in Britain. Therefore it would be a crime not to come along to the largest weekly student snooker competition in the country, every Wednesday during term time. Whether you’re a complete beginner or the next Rocket Ronnie, everyone is welcome to play for £50 of bar vouchers.

Pool Competition: Fridays 7.30pm (Playing Fields)

The next installment of games at the union takes you to the famous sports bar for a weekly pool competition. There is £60 of vouchers to be won weekly, and with a £1 entry fee the odds look in your favour.

So if you’re a complete beginner just a few games of pool or a hungry shark out for the kill this is the tournament for you.
