The Union is one of the most unique student venues the country has to offer in that there are ten bars to choose from. Each bar has a different theme, personality and history and they will no doubt be the settings of some of your fondest memories of your time at Glasgow.
Opened in 1951 and has been the spiritual home of GUU games events ever since. It plays host to everything from the annual Drinking Competitions and the infamous Iron Stomach to the Monday Night Quiz, weekly Darts Competition and Just a Minute.
With eighteen taps of the finest ales and lagers to choose from, the Beer Bar is the perfect place for a drink after lectures and meeting new friends.
With six wonderfully comfy couches, Altitude is perfect for relaxing with a group of friends on a Thursday night before entering the madness of The HIVE.
Here you can sit back and relax in one of the booths, listening to some great singers, musicians and comedians on our Open Mic Night every Friday, dancing the night away to soul classics on a Thursday or going wild and getting involved in It's Saturday presents... every Saturday. With Cocktail lists and pitchers at £5, this funky bar is thee place to be for a pre-Hive drink.
This is the Union’s sports bar, home of three more pool tables, table football and the unmissable Thursday Night Karaoke with the karaoke queen herself, Grace!
The scene of many a downed pint or Strawpedo race, the Balcony Bar is a favourite for those who need to grab some space from the crowds and re-energise for another session in The Hive.
Our very own 1000 capacity nightclub (the biggest in the West End) and is where you’ll no doubt find yourself at the end of the night. Whether it’s propping up the bar or throwing shapes at the DJ from the top of the Podium.
Previous guest DJs have included Kissy Sell Out, Seamus Haji, Tim Westwood, Zane Lowe, JK & Joel, DJ Yoda, The Cutup Boys and Dave Pearce kicking off the first of his Dance Anthems Tour in 2007.
