Welcome to the Hub for debating at the GUU. Hopefully this guide will answer any questions you may have about the best debating Union in Scotland and the most successful in the world. If it doesn't you can contact the Convenor of Debates on debates@guu.co.uk or from the contact details below.
We welcome any student or Union member to come along to one of the Union's many debates events and even speak for yourself - but if not hopefully you'll go away thinking that debaters aren't all weirdoes. And then maybe you'll come along to one of the huge Post-Debate-Parties (on after all of our events) and have a laugh at some of the best events in the Union's year.

Held once a year, The John Smith Memorial Debate is a commemoration of a fine politician and friend of the Glasgow University Union. It is a celebration of the political and debating traditions of the Union.
